Accessibility

What we aim for on this website, where we know it falls short, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.

Our aim

This statement covers the website at ucscaregroup.co.uk. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA, and to make the site usable with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, and at high zoom levels.

What we have done

  • Every page works with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible
  • A skip link jumps straight to the main content
  • Text and interface colours are checked against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds
  • Animation and smooth scrolling are switched off if your device asks for reduced motion
  • Page structure uses real headings and landmarks rather than styled text
  • Photographs used as banners are marked as decorative, so screen readers skip them rather than announcing filler

Where it may fall short

We assess this site ourselves. It has not had an independent accessibility audit, and it has not been tested with every combination of assistive technology and browser. That means there will be problems we have not found yet.

If you use a screen reader, voice control, magnification or any other assistive technology and something does not work, we would genuinely like to know. It is the fastest way for us to fix what our own testing missed.

Telling us about a problem

Email hello@ucscaregroup.co.uk or call +44 330 223 6702. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. We will reply and tell you what we intend to do about it.

If you need something from this site in another format, ask us and we will provide it.
